SPG Solar, Inc. (SPG) designs an appropriate solar solution for each of its clients.
SPG designs, engineers and installs the most efficient solar array to meet the unique energy needs of each customer. SPG personnel provide the daily on-site project management, and SPG fully tests the solar system after it is completed.
New products from solar panel manufacturers that integrate with a building’s design minimize visual impact. These panels are just as productive as standard rectangular panels, but help to make the system more aesthetically pleasing.
As part of its turnkey service, SPG first creates a complete profile of a client’s total energy needs by analyzing the last 12 months’ worth of electric bills. SPG uses this summary of the customer’s energy needs to design the right-sized solar system for each building.
To collect the most sunlight year-round, the solar panels are mounted directly to the south-facing slopes on pitched or hipped roofs. For a flat-roofed building, the PV panels are installed on angled supports oriented to the south.
The panels are connected together to produce enough electricity to meet energy needs. Power from the solar array is sent to an inverter which changes the DC power generated by the panels to safe AC power for use in the building.
The inverter also sends surplus electricity generated from the solar panels out to the grid for credit under Net Metering regulations. With Net Metering surplus electricity that’s sent to the grid is credited to the customer at the regular “retail” rate that would otherwise have to be paid for that electricity. The utility credit the solar system earns over the course of a year has the potential to eliminate the total annual electric bill!
As part of its energy assessment, SPG also suggests where clients can conserve energy. This may include upgrading or replacing lights, air conditioning and appliances with new equipment for added energy efficiency. SPG warrants each solar installation for five years. PV panels have a manufacturer’s 25 year warranty.
