Project Overview

Location Fischer Properties: Depot Park, Sacramento, CA
Size 3 megawatt (MW) DC
Type Ground mounted tracking solar power system, using TTi Sunseeker® Tracker
Completion December 2010
Generation Equivalent to approx. 40% of the electricity used at the Depot Park facility
Equivalent to Providing power to up to 456 average American homes annually

The Opportunity

Fischer Properties: Depot Park, the former Sacramento U.S. Army Depot in the heart of the Sacramento, covers 3 million square feet and is home to commercial and industrial tenants. The 15 acre solar power system, built on a designated enterprise zone and redevelopment area, provided the opportunity to convert an unusable brownfield into a solar brightfield.

The Solution

The solar power system is a creative solution to maximize land space and transform a previously contaminated, unusable site into a power producing, green energy field. SPG Solar partnered with Fischer Properties, owner and manager of Depot Park, East West Bank to finance the system and Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) the local utility, to benefit from the solar incentive program.

Noteworthy Achievement

The installation is one of the largest ground-mounted tracking solar power projects in California and the only one located at a Superfund Site within a redeveloped military facility.*
