National Solar Expert Addresses Bay Area Officials and Contractors
John Wiles, US Dept of Energy, SPG Solar, Inc. Team Up To Provide Expert Advice on Photovoltaic Solar Systems
San Rafael, CA, USA (July 7, 2005) - SPG Solar, Inc. (SPG) sponsored a seminar yesterday by John Wiles, a nationally recognized expert on safe and code-compliant solar electric systems. The event was attended by 80 building and electrical inspectors, solar contractors and utility company representatives.
The eight-hour seminar provided an intensive overview of all-scale solar electrical generation, and the National Electrical Code regulations for installation, safe operation, and durability of solar electric systems.
"Designing and installing solar electric systems requires detailed knowledge and uniform interpretation of local and national electrical codes," said Dan Thompson, President of SPG. "John Wiles is the best in the business. He literally wrote the book on installing solar. We sponsored this conference to spread the word about code changes for the industry, and to get the various parties together so that all solar systems are installed correctly, for the long-term."
The event was made possible by the Marin County Sustainability Team, which supplied the Marin Civic Center Board Chamber for the seminar. A similar seminar is being held today in Santa Rosa. A third seminar will be held on Friday, July 8 at the University of California, Berkeley. To register, call 510-843-1113 x 108. NABCEP/IAEI credits are available to participants of all seminars.
