ALZA Corporation, a member of the Johnson & Johnson family of companies, develops and manufactures drug delivery systems. One of the company’s large-scale manufacturing facilities needed a stable energy supply for its around-the-clock operations. Solar power was the right solution to meet their renewable energy goals.

In an effort to generate the most solar power per acre, SPG Solar installed the SunSeeker single tracker. This was SPG Solar’s first installation of our solar tracker, which has been in operation since 2006.

The solar tracking system produces about one-third of the plant’s peak electricity demands during the summer, delivering thousands in savings and meets the companies sustainability goals.

“It’s actually exceeding our expectations at this time of year, so we are very happy with the performance of this solar power system.” Erol Odabasi
ALZA Environmental Manager based in Vacaville

Solar Power Generation

The solar tracking system produces over 1.9 million kilowatt hours (kWh) yearly, equivalent to powering 175 average American homes annually and providing energy during peak hours of the day, when electricity loads and prices are at their highest.

  • Lower operating costs at the facility
  • Local green jobs generated
  • Environmental Stewardship
  • Offsets 1,492 tons of carbon dioxide annually
  • Equivalent to removing 282 cars from our congested roads yearly
