Committed to sustainable building operations, JMB Reality turned to solar energy for strong financial returns and to showcase their commitment to environmental stewardship. Both in 2008 and in 2010 they partnered with SPG Solar to design, engineer and install customized rooftop solutions at MGM Tower and Century Park West.

SPG Solar engineered a solar power system on the top level of the MGM Tower multi-level parking structure. The 431 kilowatt rooftop solar power system spans roughly one acre of roof space. In 2010 SPG Solar returned and designed a 471 kilowatt solar power system for JMB Realty on the upper floor of Century Park West parking garage. Both solar power systems maximize space and cumulatively generate 902 kilowatts in an urban, high rise environment.

JMB Reality is saving on energy costs, providing a sustainable building for tenants, and showcasing to the community solar success in urban environments.

“We’re very proud to have completed our second photovoltaic installation in Century City with SPG Solar, which represents a substantial commitment to energy conservation.”Sarah Shaw, General Manager of Constellation Place

Solar Power Generation

The rooftop solar power systems produce over 1.2 million kilowatt hours (kWh) yearly, equivalent to powering 109 average American homes annually and providing energy during peak hours of the day, when electricity loads and prices are at their highest.

  • Lower operating costs at the buildings
  • Local green jobs generated
  • Offsets 935 tons of carbon dioxide annually
  • Equivalent to removing 177 cars from our congested roads yearly
