     Conservation

Reduce then Produce”

Reducing energy consumption can be an essential component of an energy use strategy. Before designing a solar system SPG Solar, Inc. (SPG) recommends a comprehensive energy-conservation solution to first bring down energy demand. This shrinks the size of the solar system needed to overcome energy costs.

The custom solution may incorporate:

  • Updated, efficient lighting.
  • Improved insulation and weatherization of walls and roofs.
  • Updated heating and cooling systems and water heaters.
  • Replacing older windows with double-paned windows.
  • Landscaping for shade.
  • Switching to efficient Energy Star™ appliances.

Annual energy savings from conservation can be substantial. The U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Savers booklet is full of tips including how to audit family energy usage. The booklet is available from the Energy Savers web site. DOWNLOAD a free Energy Savers booklet.
