Efficiencies and quality control are achieved by having all the major components pre-assembled. This promotes consistent assembly activities, while reducing staging and assembly areas at the construction site. The end result is a single axis tracker that is easy to build with reduced labor hours and expedited install.

It takes 1.6 man hours per kW to install the SunSeeker tracker and solar panels. SPG Solar offers onsite inspection to ensure that the quality of the installation is maintained from start to finish.

Install Posts

Step One

  • Typical installations are vibro-piled
  • 1 post for every 8 to 9 modules
  • Built to grade: Posts can be installed at a slope of up to 1% north and south and 3% east to west

Install Motor Assembly

Step Two

  • 3 main components – jackscrew, horizontal beam and baseplates
  • A 3 horsepower Joyce Dayton motor with a 25-ton jackscrew drives up to 700 kWp
  • Fully enclosed boot protects the jackscrew and reduces maintenance

Install Driveline

Step Three

  • Install fully pre-assembled driveline assembly
  • 1 driveline assembly required per row
  • Adjustable drive ram to accommodate different ground cover ratios
  • Clevis style connection to accommodate grade tolerance
  • Maintenance free PTFE bearings and Nylatron roller

Install North, South Rows

Step Four

  • 3 pre-assembled components: pivot brackets, cradles and rotational supports
  • Rows can be installed up to 220 feet wide, supporting up to 102, 72 cell modules
  • Cradle to rotational support attachment is adjustable to prevent row twisting

Install Dampers

Step Five

  • Dampers absorb dynamic loads of the system, minimizing wind loads and wear and tear on key components
  • The number of dampers used is configurable and optimized for specific wind loads

Install Panel Packs

Step Six

  • 3 panels in landscape are pre-panelized and installed as panel packs, reducing field labor costs
  • Panel rails are UL listed to 467 with weeb clips, minimizing the use of grounding lugs and copper wire
  • Aluminum huck rivet attachments decrease installation time and minimize theft

Install Controller

Step Seven

  • Pre-wired and programmed controller using NREL algorithm to ensure accurate tracking
  • Stainless steel NEMA 4x enclosure
  • Each controller has its own GPS, anemometer and inclinometer sensor
